IBM Lotus and SAP Applications
Companies tend to think that they can live on ERP solutions only!Integrating Lotus and SAP will extracr more value from your investments.

With NetWeaver SAP has moved into the middleware space which creates new integration options.
Some SAP customers are still suspiciios about NetWeaver, and are holding off on more SAP upgrade!
Strategic direction is to establish and provide own middleware stack for SAP Apps.
Overlap between NetWeaver and WebSphere portfolio
NetWeaver is not as open as SAP would lead you to believe - 3rd party solution are often required for integration.
SAP EP is a UI component for SAP, as soon as other application integration is required partners or self made apps are required.
Domino integration options with SAP:
- Lotus connector for SAP R/3 - FMC currently uses this
- LEI - FMC currentl uses this.

- LCLSX - used in the modified mail file to support SAP workflow
- Java (SAP JCO(Java Connector available from SAP)
- Web Services
LCLSX allows Lotus application to directly interact with SAP (Read/Write) - very powerful!
DECS provide point and click real time access into SAP
LEI allows for scheduled large transfers of data, allows you to replicate from SAP to Domino - Used in FMC to create Organisation information within BioPolymer's eSales application.
SAP MTA allows for the bi-directional routing of email between SAP and Domino

WebSphere Portal Server appears to have an access method to suit any requirements type for SAP, wether you want to utilise the ABAP or J2EE options that SAP provides.
