Google Talk Port changes?
My Windows Google Talk client suddenly stopped working this week in the office. After some digging around, it was confirmed that it was due to it trying to get through the firewall on port 552. Our firewall guys assure me that this port has always been blocked. So, has something changed at Google's end preventing access on other ports, or are my firewall guys lying? The chat facility works fine from within gmail, it only seems to be impacting the Google client.
What gives? Anyone else seeing this?
Update 6/18/07 - Turns out the problem was related to our content filtering system blocking SIMP Jabber traffic suddenly. The Google Web client must use different protocols, as that continued to work just fine.
