Focussed Connections
Never mind social networks and their mass of connections. The only connection I am interested in, is the one between Microsoft and Lotus! That being the Exchange Connector for Lotus Notes. We are still having crash hang problems, however, they seem to be more intermittent now. Rather than being once a day, the connector will run solid for a week, then fail two or three times in the period of 48 hours. A new version (12/7/07) of the connector has just been released, but once again there is no clear documentation as to what it fixes. Why is there no list of fixes available? We have Microsoft and IBM support investigating the debug files, but nothing obvious yet. No-one is claiming responsibility!
For some obscure reason the perfmon counters for the NMC queues are not updating so the automated script we have developed that will stop and start the service if a queue backlog is detected, is not buying us anything either. Microsoft support are puzzled with why the counters are not working. Thankfully, we have the GSX Monitor product to monitor Domino and we can take advantage of its mail routing probe feature, to provide an early warning of the queue status.
Oh yes, one more thing, I have just heard of another implementation of this connector, that is suffering the exact same problem. So we are no longer unique (as Microsoft seemed to think we are!)
