Enterprise 2.0
Next week I will be attending the Enterprise 2.0 conference (formerly known as the Collaborative Technologies Conference) in Boston. I attended the first one 2 years ago in NYC, and had the good fortune of meeting Ben Poole and Jonh Barrow with whom I shared a couple of well deserved shandies! One of the impressive aspects last time round was the organisation of the event. That seems to be carrying forward for this one too. Since registering, they have sent regular emails outlining the event, sent dinner invites and are hosting a collaborative portal to allow you to summarise your skills and interests, which are then used to try and engender a social network for you, identifying people with like interests or those able to assist with your interests! They even draw a pretty map (in the form of a radar) to visually show you which people have the closest affinity with you.
So far, I have received one invite to a meeting. I am trying to decide if this is spam or not! I volunteered the the information about me, and this person has invited me, because of that (hopefully). So maybe it is legit. And, more importantly, two dinner invites, one of which being the much anticipated GEEC Dinner, hosted by Michael Sampson.
I am looking forward to hearing/seeing how things have evlolved since last time. Good to attend a small conference I think - It will be the first one since this happened.
