Document Locking Quirk in iNotes (DWA)
This quirk popped up yesterday. Seems to happen on both Domino 6.5.2 and 6.5.4. We do not have document locking enabled on any of our mail files.Try this out:
1. Logon on to iNotes and begin composing a new email. Enter the addresses and some text in the body.
2. Save it as a draft.
3. Now open your mail file in the Notes client and retrieve the email you started from the Drafts folder. (For the eagle eyed, you will see the Document successfully locked appear in the status bar)
4. Finish off any changes you may want to make, then send it on it's way. (when you send it you will notice the Document successfully unlocked in the status bar)
When the recipient tries to open it in the Notes client, you get the following pop up:
The recipient can open it up successfully in iNotes, but not in the Notes client. It all seems a bit crazy to me.
We have a ticket opened on this, but at the moment the server team and client team are pointing fingers at each other!
Update - 12:53 15th July
Looks like this is related to design locking. We do have design locking set in the mail files, due to it inheriting from the template. If you disable design locking in the users email file, the email is no longer locked when they try to open it. Looks like some area of the code is confused. Design locking should only protect the design elements of the database not the documents with in it. We should be getting an SPR number, to track this as they fix the bug.
